ADEA WIL Leadership Development Program: Rise up, identify and embrace your untapped leadership potential
All Faculty and staff have a desire to develop and obtain professional growth. Shifting gender demographics in dentistry continues, yet the number of men in top leadership roles still far exceeds that of women. Although the changing gender dynamics promises increased opportunities for women to serve in leadership capacities, lack of consistent mentorship or affordable development opportunities result in many women facing a stagnant career trajectory. A survey was deployed in 2021 by the ADEA Women in Leadership Section which identified barriers to obtaining leadership positions, such as lack of funding or inadequate time necessary for leadership development. From the survey ADEA WIL developed the following nine modules which are intended to enhance the academic careers and leadership progression of all faculty and staff.
